This is the flagship illustration unit of the Fashion Design Studio series — eight full lessons that take students from a blank page to a portfolio-ready fashion illustration. Students start with the 9-head fashion figure (croquis) and learn to draw clothing on the form, then move through six different rendering media: watercolor, colored pencil, marker, gouache, pen & ink, and mixed media.
Each rendering lesson is written as a standalone technique lesson, so you can teach the full sequence over several weeks or pull individual lessons to match whatever media your classroom already stocks. By the end of the unit, students will have a small illustrated portfolio spanning multiple techniques — perfect for a midterm or unit showcase.
