My humble studio finds its place in the tranquil embrace of Spring Bank, nestled under the watchful gaze of Alberta's awe-inspiring Rocky Mountains. It's a space where creativity flows freely, where design, painting, pattern-making, and textile arts come to life.
My artistic journey began in Tehran, my birthplace and home. There, I was captivated by the intricate world of Persian art, from the intricacies of rug design to the delicate beauty of Persian Miniature, the gilded elegance of Tazhib, and the timeless craftsmanship of Persian carpet weaving. Textile arts and the enchanting art of batik painting further fuelled my artistic passion.
In the year 2000, I earned a bachelor's degree in textile and fashion design from the esteemed University of Jahad Daneshgahi in Tehran. It marked the beginning of a new chapter that led me to the welcoming shores of Canada. For the past 18 years, I've been fortunate to wear the hats of a textile designer, a fashion enthusiast, and a dedicated art and design teacher. This journey has opened my eyes to the rich tapestry of Western arts and cultures.
My educational voyage reached its pinnacle with the attainment of a Bachelor of Education in Fine Arts and a Master's degree in Computational Media Design, both awarded by the University of Calgary.
As an artist, I humbly draw inspiration from the world around me – from the subtle melodies of nature, dreams that play at the fringes of consciousness, to the ancient art forms of Persia. I use a personal language of soft, flowing movements, and a vibrant palette of colors to translate the beauty and joy that exists in the natural world onto my canvas. The forms that take shape vary from the representational to the abstract. My chosen mediums are watercolors, oils, acrylics, silk batik, and mixed media. I often embark on thematic journeys, weaving stories through my collections.
My artistic odyssey finds expression in two distinct creations. I craft hand-painted silk scarves, each stroke a whisper of luxury. I also design and make unique, high-quality leotards and bodysuits for gymnastics, synchronized swimming, and figure skating. My creations are a testament to my reverence for quality, crafted with the finest silk, lycra, crystals, fabric dyes, and fabric paints, combined with high-quality prints where they enrich the design.
