In 2014, I painted my first silk scarves and signed them with a name I’d carry for years to come: Pari. Back then, I didn’t know it would become my brand. I only knew I wanted to bring together everything I loved: my training in textile and fashion design, the Persian rugs, Tazhib and miniatures I had studied, and my endless fascination with texture.

I still remember stretching that first piece of pure white silk across a frame. I traced the borders in hot wax, then let soft, translucent colour flow across the fabric like watercolour. When I pressed the iron over it and the wax melted away, the design appeared as if it had been waiting there all along. No two batiks ever turn out the same, and I’ve come to love that. Each one is a moment that can never be repeated.

Then something wonderful happened. My clients began asking for scarves of the paintings they had fallen in love with, the exact same ones. A batik could never give them that. So I went back to my roots as a textile designer. I photographed my paintings, designed them into fabric, and had them printed. But I couldn’t leave them there. Something in me needed to touch every piece by hand.

So that’s what I do. Whether a scarf begins as a batik or as a printed painting, I bring it to life the same way. I add brushstrokes of ancient gold, light gold, copper and silver, scatter Swarovski crystals across the surface, and stitch in silk satin or hand embroidery. To me, a scarf isn’t finished until it feels luxurious and richly adorned. Each one carries a piece of my story, and I hope it becomes part of yours
